★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Decent Izakaya food at a low price (compared to this Kaiseki filled Gion area). Did not make a reservation and the waitress initially rejected us saying they don’t have an empty table. We insisted that we can wait and it turned out they have empty table 5 minutes later.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Overpriced food but very nice atmosphere. Waitress was inexperienced with foreigners and tallied our bill incorrectly. Food came after a long wait (40+ minutes) and one order was forgotten for more than 90 minutes. Seemed like an unfortunate series of events due to an unexpected waitress but food was mediocre anyway.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Three fine gentlemen behind the counter serving up some delicious plates. A “higher-end” Izakaya, but with quite affordable prices (particularly for the area). We didn’t try a set menu but instead ordered A la carte and every dish was great. We had the steak, eggplant, red snapper and a couple of salads. Seemed very busy so likely best to reserve ahead of you can - we were lucky enough to be given a seat for a short time between reservations. Great place all round. Menu attached (at the time)

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Great Izakaya in Gion with a broad menu (in English) so plenty of choice including classics and some stuff you don’t see everywhere. We had our hotel make a reservation to ensure we had a table. Would return to try more of the menu!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We found this izakaya by coincidence and are so happy about it. It's such a warm and friendly place. If you don't understand the menu, no problem. Just let the chef decide or point on pictures you find on their Google maps. We had sake, beer, fried chicken, steak, tempura, salad, sashimi, steamed veggies, rice... and paid 4000 each. We come back. The quality is fantastic!!!
