★ ★ ★ ★ ★ awesome place for food and very affordable! Everything is cooked right in front of you and you can’t get it fresher than that! The staff are extremely hospitable and make you feel very at home.
This is a must do dining experience in Kyoto. Take a taxi to get there, it’s about 10 mins from Kyoto station.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We had a fantastic dinner in this place. We feel we couldn't have chosen a better restaurant to celebrate our anniversary. The staff was super kind and they always ensure we felt comfortable and looked after. The place is small and you MUST make a reservation in advance (just email them). The food is cooked in front of you and omg it was delicious and also reasonably priced (A5 100gr wagyu steak for ¥1800!!!) If I could I would rate this place with 6 stars.
Update: It was so good that we came back 2 days later for more wagyu, gyoza and negiyaki :)

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ How anyone can rate this as less than 5 stars is beyond me. We had the most amazing meal and Naoko & Hideki were wonderful hosts, keen to share knowledge and make our meal extra special!
You need to book in advance (I booked via email) but it's SO worth it as you get a very reasonably priced meal and the quality of the food is exceptional. I think we paid about 12,000 yen but we had 4 portions of wagyu, stir fried vegetables, rice and the most amazing gyozas (honestly, the gyozas back here in the UK have been put to shame ?). You will also not find A5 wagyu for this price anywhere else.
Naoko took a photo of us and emailed it the next day with a lovely thank you message. You really feel like family visiting this place, it's wonderful. I am recommending anyone who goes to Japan to visit this place as it's so good, the hosts are amazing and the decor is lovely as well. I can't wait to visit again when we go back to Kyoto ? arigatou gozaimasu!! ?

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I have to visit this spot every time I go to Kyoto. Hideki and Naoko are the most warm and welcoming hosts, which is clear from all of the gifts that their visitors have brought them covering the walls. Because the room is small and cozy, half of the experience is chatting with the other diners. The other half is the food, all of which is excellent. Of course, you need to order the beef, but the other dishes are equally good. My basic favorite is the bacon-wrapped asparagus (not pictured) and yuzushu (pictured). And you can never go wrong with hand-wrapped gyoza.
Because it's such a lovely experience, make sure to make reservations on their website a week or so beforehand, unless your schedule is very flexible!

Atmosphere is so cozy and wonderful, food was delicious, the couple running the place are just the friendliest and nicest people, very family friendly and though we have been living in Japan for over 4 years now kids all came away stating this is their favorite restaurant in Japan! Make a reservation and visit! Simple as that. Can’t post any pictures as we were too busy enjoying the lovely food and drinks!
