It was amazing even without the cherry blossoms. The statue also struck me, as it so vividly created the image of what hard work people pulled to build this "water path of life" - introducing water from the far-away Biwa Lake to Kyoto for agricultural use and generating electricity. Bravo to the sculptor.

The enchanting forest, aged old railway tracks, the statue of the great civil engineer, the hydroelectric dam, the old red brick tunnel - all these lent an almost magical peek into the past. A wonderful trek with great historical pieces of the past coupled with a serene and peaceful ambience. Great works of historical significance displayed through nature. It was a beautiful walkabout and memorable because of the scenery n history of the places. From forested area to an old hydroelectric dam then on to an open park and finally down through a brick tunnel to finally arrive at the main road. An interesting and recommended trek!

During Sakura season this place is very crowded, it’s best to visit early morning. They have a couple of parking lots nearby (not free) if you are driving to the location.

Amazing place to enjoy cherry blossom! There is illumination in the night and you can take great pictures here. Enjoy this nice walk during Hanami! However, the place is very crowded. I would advise to go as early as possible or in the night (Keage Incline being open 24/24h). Also, you should wear good shoes; the railway is full of rocks.

Another spot for cherry blossom viewing with a distinctive subject that the trees are growing along an inclined railway with ship models showing how it was before. In addition, nearby a traditional temple with an impressive grand structure built across a driveway leading to the temple together with the red coloured railing along both sides of the bridge made this a great place for photographers.

A bucket list to do in Kyoto during Sakura bloom (around the end of March-early April). This place used to be a railway for commodity transport to and from Kyoto. It connects two canals (Biwa Lake Canals). The view during Sakura bloom is magnificent. A popular place of hanami spot and for prewedding picture. Near the inclone, you can also enjoy riding a boat through the canals

Superb place for viewing cherry blossom. You need to walk a little to view the entire incline. At the top of the incline you can see Sakura trees at both sides of the incline. Hence don't miss the top of the incline

Definitely worth a stop in Sakura season. Rare way to experience "hanami" . There are a lot of locals wearing kimonos and other older fashions that add to the "fuinki", atmosphere(?). You also see folks sitting down and having lunch or tea and just chilling
