・南禅寺といえば湯豆腐ということで、お庭が綺麗で美味しい湯豆腐を検索したところ「八千代」「菊水」が出てきました。八千代さんの口コミも悪くなさそうで今回は八千代さんへ日曜の12:30頃に予約なしで訪問、待ちの客はいませんでしたが入口で約10分ほど案内まで待ちました。席は座敷とテーブルとお庭付き個室がありますが、個室は10名以上予約必須でないとダメみたいです。
・お庭が見えやすいのは座敷席でテーブル席側は少し離れています。また、座敷席もお庭に近いのは3席で眺望良好で食事が可能。お庭もスリッパがあり近くで楽しむことができるため、お庭側でなくても充分景観を楽しめます。
・肝心な料理はというと、湯豆腐とお造りに2段の六角弁当と南禅寺蒸しにデザートが付いている雨月弁当の特花(4,900円)を注文。お弁当は様々な種類の料理を少しずつ楽しめ、湯豆腐も濃い目のタレと合い美味しいです。デザートは抹茶のロールケーキでしたが、味は微妙でなんでこれだけ洋菓子やねんと思います。全体の量はボリューム感がありました。
・お庭と湯豆腐を楽しめる八千代さんはトータル星4で、店員さんの接客がもう少し改善すれば星5です。いまはホスピタリティが感じられませんが、接客を気にしなければデートコースや家族でのご飯に組み込むことをオススメします。

・ Nanzenji is called Yudofu, so when I searched for Yudofu with a beautiful garden, I found "Yachiyo" and "Kikusui". Mr. Yachiyo's word of mouth seems not to be bad, so this time I visited Mr. Yachiyo at around 12:30 on Sunday without reservation, and although there were no waiting guests, I waited for about 10 minutes at the entrance. There are tatami mats, tables and private rooms with gardens for seats, but it seems that private rooms must be reserved for 10 people or more.
・ The garden is easy to see in the tatami mat seats, and the table seats are a little far away. In addition, the tatami mat seats are close to the garden, and there are 3 seats with a good view and you can eat. The garden also has slippers and you can enjoy it nearby, so you can fully enjoy the scenery even if you are not on the garden side.
・ As for the important dishes, I ordered a special flower (4,900 yen) of a two-tiered hexagonal bento with yudofu and sashimi, and a rain moon bento with dessert on Nanzenji steamed. You can enjoy various kinds of bento little by little, and the yudofu is delicious with the thick sauce. The dessert was a matcha roll cake, but the taste is subtle, so I think it's a Western confectionery. The total amount was voluminous.
・ Yachiyo, who can enjoy the garden and yudofu, has a total of 4 stars, and if the customer service of the clerk improves a little, it will be 5 stars. I don't feel hospitality right now, but if you don't mind serving customers, I recommend incorporating it into a date course or family meal.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Yachiyo is a ryokan hotel, but they have a restaurant as well. It specializes in tofu, one of Kyoto's famous foods. Almost all of Yachiyo's dishes that they serve with the yudofu (tofu hot pot) main course is tofu-based. It doesn't get boring or bland at all, however.
It's an excellent Japanese "washoku" meal experience, my family and I are repeat customers.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The food and atmosphere were great. Overall, the staff was friendly, however, there was one staff member who turned the basically positive experience into a negative one. The person was rude and condescending. It was as if the person was being burdened by our patronage. Price wise, it's a bit on the high side for what you get. If it wasn't for that one staff member, I would consider returning, but not as long as that person is working.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Had lunch here after a 1.8km walk along the Path. I ordered the 8-dish Royal Set Lunch 釜饭御善. First sign of troubles was the soup container cover， which could not be lifted. The waitress had to open it in the kitchen for me. Then came the funny tasting special noodle 半兵卫面. It was tasteless and texture like paper. The waitress was not sure about the dish and verified with kitchen that it was indeed the special noodle. I had to give up on the dish because it still tasted like tissue paper to me on the 2nd try. ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Went for dinner and it was a great place to eat an assortment of Japanese foods.
When I went, you could choose from either a “Tofu set” which the main is tofu and a “Bento set” where it includes an various Japanese foods like tempura , sashimi, etc.
Both were very reasonably priced (3000~5000yen) and the portions were filling as well.
Although both sets were very good, I really enjoyed and recommend the bento set.
