★ ★ ★ ★ ★ It's hard to overstate how phenomenal our visit here was. Its a tad tricky to find but at the end of a corridor off the street is a door/portal into a Japanese culinary nirvana. Toshii, the owner, kindly recommended us a range of her specialty home cooked dishes, all carefully designed to bring out the best Obanzai cuisine has to offer.
If you're planning on going, consider a reservation, there is room for maybe 8 max in this delightfully cosy location. They were very receptive to us despite our inability to converse basic Japanese which was well appreciated!
I really truly look forward to our next visit, and will shout praises from the rooftops for this place in the meantime.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Our first time trying yuba here in Kyoto and wow it was amazing?!?! Tiny restaurant but we felt so welcome and were lucky to get seats. The owner and staff were very friendly and took extra effort to ensure all customers were happy and satisfied with the food.

This is one of the handful of places in Kyoto that serves excellent vegetarian food. We were hunting for places where both my husband and I could eat because he can eat anything that moves and I prefer plant-based cuisine. I was pleasantly surprised to find that I was spoilt for choice which is very rare for a vegetarian in Japan. They have a wide variety of vegetarian-friendly dishes including the freshest and softest tofu you will have in your life.
The lady who runs the establishment is very friendly, speaks English and is a great company throughout your meal. It was a feast for my vegetarian starved soul and for my husband who says "It was the best meal he had in Japan".
