I have booked last year and requested for a table of 7 because of our outing.
They separated our table or we had to go sit upstair where there was no atmosphere, even we booked months in advance.
We emailed to book the table for 6 again this year and requested for sitting together on the 1st floor.
They emailed back and confirmed the seat.
When we arrived, they said the 1st floor was full and no table available.
I said we have emailed and requested.
They said they did not say about 1 st floor.
And they wanted to contact us but could not reach us.
SO HOW COULD THEY CONFIRMED ME BACK!!?

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Food was nice with decent atmosphere. We had the second set menu for 4320 yen/ person, with cook at your table char grill option. Quality of the food was good, however overpriced given the quantity of beef. (my photo is of 3x set menu). Also rating 3 stars due to indifferent waitress.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Cozy, warm environment, very relaxing. Beef is soft and juicy. Fried oyster is crispy and delicious. Iron pot crab meat rice is attractive.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The food is served beautifully. I ordered 2 sets, one of Obanzai and one of grill set. Obanzai seasonal set had 5 cute plates with different flavors. I’m not an expert of Japanese food but it tasted good.
The grill set only had 3 small slices of beef and they tasted like the normal beef you can buy in any suppa. I expexted more meat in the set.
The food portion is a little small for me…so I decided to order one roasted beef. It was delicious.
Price is reasonable in the area and it has cozy atmosphere.
Staffs were friendly and good service.
I challenged myself with Japanese menu only, not sure they have English menu updated (I guess because of less foreign customers due to Corona).
Next time I think I want to try the course with sushi and tempura. The tsukune nabe (chicken meetball hotpot) sounds delicious.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We enjoyed our dinner here. This restaurant serves “o banzai”, which is traditional Kyoto home cooking as well as very good sashimi and others. Although it’s located in Pontocho (expensive area) near Sanjo, the price was reasonable. All the staff are very disciplined and well educated. Not sure if they speak English tho.
