Hearty service. Great food ! Though I can't talk much Japanese, still have a great experience. Having a bottle of ice oolong tea and like about 10 pieces of food, 7900yen in total, yet in my opinion it's definitely worthy!!

I like oden and this place is definitely one of the best experiences I’ve had. Everything was so delicious! The staff was very friendly and made you feel welcome. Ask for a recommendation if it is you can’t read the signs and tried the oden essentials already.

I was lucky to take the last counter seat before the queue starts to form outside. And I get to seat beside this Japanese young couple and the girl can speak English. She saw me struggling in ordering the food as I can only point. She told me the chef likes to interact with the customers. She taught me the name and I took up the courage and ordered in Japanese. The food was cooked to perfection. I get to see the chef in action, he knows the doneness of each of the food very well. I ended up ordering close to everything in the menu without knowing how much it cost. That meal cost me 9K Yen. Worth it? Yes, even the egg taste so good. I will be back in winter.

Friendly intimate oden institution. Every single morsel is cooked to perfection. Price to match.

This is very good Oden place in Kyoto. Only around 14 seats in the Oden counter. The owner can speak a bit of english and the Oden are excellent.

Oden here is really tasty, especially great for cooler weather. A healthy comfort food. After seated, a gentleman would ask what you like to drink. Though the bow-tie Chef looks stern, he is alright, and gentlemanly. No English menu, so if you don't know what to order, point to what you want. Sometimes, the local guest/s next to you (if they know English) would help too. Their daikon is the best, after soaking in the dashi stock for a while, other interesting items are kinchaku, konnyaku, shirataki and yuba. Heard their octopus is great too. Finish and leave as there may be people queuing outside. May not be cheap, so bring some cash. Do check their webpage/blog-page as it will announce their off-days for the month (though mainly Wednesday) before going. #kyotofood #kyoto #oden

It's an interesting oden place with high quality ingredients. However, the prices are not listed so you might be surprised when the receipt comes. 6 pieces (a pretty light meal) with a drink will cost you around 5000¥. Make sure you have enough cash as they don't accept credit cards.

This is the place for quality oden. Not quite the likes in frozen aisle at your local Japanese grocery stores or in warming pots at 7-11s all over Japan. No sir. The ingredients used are top notch quality vegetables (kyoyasai) and changing with the season. I had uni wrapped in cabbage in Summer and in Fall, they served crab, ebi-imo (a Japanese tuber with sweet flavor that is rather hard to verbalize. You have to try it yourself :-) . No, its not like purple potato, yams or taro. The place has character, been around for a very long time and have local regulars. Despite being in Gion, I seldom see tourists here. Very warm and friendly service. You're not likely to read about this place in your travel guide but stopping here will only add to your Kyoto experience.
