We ate the deep fried chicken, stir fried pork with spring onion, duck ramen noodles, 'Kyo Mochi' pork and tofu salad and the hot potato salad which is a must! The service was impeccable and there is an English language menu which helped massively. Very highly recommended, 5*

The chief and owner spoke a little bit English and even French. He spend on year in France cooking with the best French chefs.
I strongly recommend this place in Kyoto.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The Kyogamo Tempura lunch (¥1,400) here is extremely reasonably priced for the attention to detail. Even the breaded fish was wrapped in a shiso leaf.
Kyogamo is duck raised in Kyoto Prefecture, not something you can easily find outside the region. The duck tempura was a tad oily but the duck was still tender and flavourful. Leave some rice for braised duck (¥700) and use that as the topping for your rice.
