★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I have not been to Otowa Waterfall, not even Japan. I found this place via the painting "Viewing Cherry Blossoms at Kiyomizu Temple" (circa 1640) now exhibiting in Auckland Art Gallery. It was such a beautiful experience to know an ancient temple still functions and is no different from 400 years ago. Wish I can visit this temple with my dear girlfriend when we human beings defeat Covid19 one day. Best wishes to Japan.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I actually didn't notice this the first time I went to Kiyomizudera. Glad we went back recently, with no almost no crowd. Nice touch that the cups are UV sanitized.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Such an amazing experience! Make sure you wash your mouth with the water as legend has that you get either a long life, love life or successful studies. There are UV light sanitizers so don't worry about getting sick from sharing the same cup!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We loved visiting the Otowa Waterfall (fountain). Legend has it that, if you drink from one of the streams, you are granted either long life, a satisfying love life or knowledge and success in studies. Drinking from all three fountains is considered greedy and frowned upon by locals (and may bring misfortune). No particular stream corresponds to a particular wish (the water all comes from the same source), simply drink from one and ask that one of wish of your choosing be granted. The metal cups used to acquire the water are stored in containers with UV light sanitizers. Cool!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ It's really nice that they this little waterfall where it is believed to have a different effect such as bringing success, love and longevity. I only walked through them without drinking any though.. got really wet, but it was refreshing indeed
