★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Quiet temple with a moss garden. You can get there from kiyomizu by walking in the back trough a little gate, you get a nice walk trough a Forrest. Only 100 yen to enter and it's very nice to just relax a moment after the busy kiyomizu. Definitely worth a look.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Cute little mountain temple. 100¥ admission. Contains a souvenir shop as well (of course). And you can hear a busy street which is near. And there is no purification basin, and no incense bowl at the main site. So for me it was not that enjoyable.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Really nice place not far from Kyomizudera, on the same mountain actually. Even if it's near nobody was there in peak season. It's inside a little forest so in summer you can cool down a bit if you visit this small Temple.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Tiny, isolated, and peaceful is the best way to describe Seikanji Temple. Not too far from Kiyomizu-dera which is flooded with tourists. You'll get a nice break from the crowds here.
