★ ★ ★ ★ ★ 渡月橋北詰に位置します。建物の裏側にあり、裏の細い路地の参道を歩いて行くと別称を「堤神社」、「大橋神社」と言われる神社があります。祭神は宇賀霊神（うがみたまがみ）です。秦氏が葛野大堰を築き当地を開拓した際に治水神として祀ったのが創祀とも言われていますが、ハッキリはしません。周りに自転車置き場があるのが残念です。

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ 嵐山渡月橋の北畔。お土産屋さんやレンタルサイクル屋さんの前に鳥居があるのに気づかれましたか？。鳥居の奥に地道の参道があり、先には朱塗りの鳥居。波板の覆屋の中にお社。式内社であると説明されている。延喜式に乙訓郡・大井社とあるが、ここは昔、葛野郡。乙訓は書き誤りと説明されるが、さて。秦氏の大堰川治水に由来とも。お社は野宮社の旧のお社で、現在は野宮神社が管理するらしい。説明板には宮司さんのお名前もあるが、懸野さんてなんとお読みするのか？「かどの」であれば、それこそ山城の歴史そのもの。自転車置き場と化した参道は嘆かわしい気もするが、案外場所代が上がって、維持に役立っていたりするかも知れない。

創建は不明です。諸説ありますが、延長5年（927）成立の延喜式神名帳に山城国乙訓郡式内社として大井神社の記載があり、当社はその論社とされています。
因みにこの日は、愛宕山に鎮座する愛宕神社に登拝するのが目的で、愛宕山に登る前に当社で交通安全を祈願しました。

秦氏は桂川の治水工事や松尾大社の創建にも関わっており、
又、ウカノミタマ＝稲荷神とする信仰がある。
伏見稲荷も秦氏が創建したことも鑑みると、大変歴史的な信仰なのではないだろうか？

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ 二度程迷いました。土産物屋さんでも分からないので地図でたどり着いた分けですが大通りのすぐの路地の中に。野宮神社より移設された社殿がありました。歴史的には秦氏以来と云われるのに存在感がないですね。

なお、大井神社は、延喜式内社の山城国乙訓郡19座の中の大井神社がそのルーツだといわれており、876（貞観１８）年に従五位下の位を授けられたと「日本三代実録」に記述がある山代大堰神がその前身にあたるといわれています。しかしながら、現在大井神社が鎮座している場所は旧葛野郡にあたるため、式内社の大井神社との繋がりは薄いと考えられています。
