★ ★ ★ ★ ★ 三条木屋町の北西角, 高瀬川にかかる三条小橋の袂に "佐久間象山先生遭難之碑/大村益次郎卿遭難之碑" という石が建っていて, 長い間それがそうなのだと思い込んでいた。(←私を含め多くの人がだまされてしまっている)
しかし, よく見ると左下に "北へ約壱丁" とある。(実際は300m強=三丁)
つまり三条のものは, ここにある実物の石碑への案内の道標なのである。
結構立派な石標なので, 実物だと勘違いしてもしょうがないﾚﾍﾞﾙ。
しかし, ここにある実物の石碑は佐久間・大村, どちらのものもいずれ劣らず, その石標を遥かに上回るﾚﾍﾞﾙの立派なものなのです。

(...が, 高瀬川対岸の近付けない場所にあり, あらかじめ知った上で行かないと普通は通り過ぎてしまうでしょうね?)
(2017.7.17現在, このﾎﾟｲﾝﾄが誤って移動されていました. 実際の場所は木屋町御池の交差点から北へ60mほど上がったところです)
At the northwest corner of Sanjo-Kiya-cho, on the Takase River, on the side of Sanjo Kobashi, there was a stone called "Sakuma Shozan's distress monument / Omura Masjiro Lord's distress monument". (← Many people have been fooled, including me)
However, if you look closely, you will see "Northern Ichicho" at the bottom left. (Actually over 300 m = 3 pcs)
In other words, the thing of Sanjo is a signpost of the guide to the real monument here.
Since it is a fairly good stone mark, there is no way to misunderstand it as a real thing.
However, the real stone monument here is Sakuma and Omura, both of which are no less inferior than any other stone monument.

(As of July 17, 2017, this point was accidentally moved. The actual location is about 60m north of the intersection of Kiyamachi Oike.)

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ 遭難の碑〜おニ人の石碑は並んでおりますが、隣接する敷地〜壁を隔てて並んでおり心なしか違和感を覚えました。
現地に設置された史実を記した案内板を見ると、それぞれの遭難の状況（どのような人物であったのか、時期、何故葬られることとなったのか等）がわかり、それぞれの事件により遭難なされたことが理解出来ました。
足をとめ、これらの史実を意識出来るよう高瀬川対岸にはスペースが設けられています。
高瀬川沿いを南に下り三条通りと交わる橋のたもと〜徒歩５分ほど300メートルほど離れた場所ですがそちらにも二つの事件の史実を記した案内板と石造の『道標』が設置されています。

金閣寺や知恩院などを見ながら歩き回ってる際に、見つけました。
幕末、早くから西洋学識に興味を持ち、その力の凄さと怖さを知っていた数少ない方。
勝海舟や、吉田松陰の師とも言える方で、
本当にこの国を思っての行動が、
佐幕、開国論者というレッテルを貼られ、
尊皇攘夷論者に疎まれた事により、
暗殺されました。
その暗殺された場所だったようで、思わず見つけて
びっくりしたのを覚えています。
幕末という本当に混乱した時代、
どれが正しいか！？わかりませんが、
結局日本は、開国し西洋学識を取り入れました。
そして発展しました。
もし佐久間象山や、坂本龍馬など、
当時異才と言われた方々が暗殺されずにいたら、
どのようになっていたのでしょうか？！
これを見つけた当時はそんな事考えなかったかもしれませんが、
今、写真を振り返りながら、ふと考えてしまいました。
