Very good museum, shows real interesting things about Japanese culture. Very well displayed and good english explanation as well. They organise geisha performances for free!!! The entrance is free and I did have a nice lunch at the restaurant. Even the coffee was not as bad as in many places. I say DO check this one out!

Wonderful museum for a rainy (or really hot) day. It does a really good job explaining (in English and Japanese) the various crafts of Kyoto. We really enjoyed the local crafts-people who are inside the museum making beautiful works as you browse the museum.

Really interesting displays of a great variety of crafts. The museum is free. It's in the basement of the convention center, and therefore a bit "forlorn" in those wide open spaces. There were four craftspeople demonstrating ancient fabric decoration techniques. Really interesting!

Absolutely come here to do workshops and shop. The furoshiki were great quality and reasonably priced, as were other goods. I would have bought more if I had the space and done a workshop if I had more time. The workshops listed seemed easy to follow and worth a good hour or two to accomplish.

The museum was a delight to visit. It was very informative with videos and staff demonstrating how various traditional crafts were created. All the pamphlets and placards came in Japanese and English. As of our visit back in May 2018, the museum was free, but you can leave donations. As with most museums, no photography allowed in The exhibition hall.

Free entrance museum with awesome traditional crafts exhibits. There was good room to move around without being in the way or happening to destroy stuff. The things that are presented are very cool and really impressive. Good mix between movie-presentation, ordinary exhibits and some interactive exhibits.

Great run down of most of the major crafts and processes if Japan. Plus, they even have live artisans working on their crafts - check their website for the schedule

The building was a clean, modern, but typical museum. The landscaping about it was beautiful and enhanced by autumn foliage, as with much of Kyoto. Inside was clean and spaceous. I noticed restrooms to the side as I entered. The layout was easy to navigate. I went for a bonsai exhibition I was unaware of until I explored the front area for a few minutes. The bonsai exhibition area was easy to find, and I had a ticket in quick. The facility seemed a great fit for the exhibition. All-in-all, the facilities and staff made for a pleasant and memorable experience. The exhibition was amazing, and from displays and pamphlets placed around the building, it seemed more awesome events would be had.
