★ ★ ★ ★ ★ 延喜式神名帳の陸奥國宮城郡の項に記載のある志波彦神社（名神大社）の旧地の神社。
志波彦神社は明治7年に塩竈市の鹽竈神社に遷されたが、元々はこの場所にありました。
現在は八坂神社境内社ですが、明治10年に志波彦神社から逆に分霊して志波彦神社の摂社となっています。
境内の案内によると、天正年間に火災で縁起を焼失、いつの頃からか衰退していたが、延宝三年（1675）に小さな祠が再建された。
明治になって国幣中社になったが、境内が狭く社殿が造営できないために鹽竈神社に遷座したといいます。

Shiogama Shrine was relocated to Shiogama Shrine in Shiogama City in 1897, but it was originally located here.
Currently, it is the precincts of Yasaka Shrine, but in the 10th year of the Meiji era, it was separated from Shiogama Shrine and became a shrine of Shiogama Shrine.
According to the guide in the precincts, a small shrine was rebuilt in 1675, although it had been destroyed by fire during the Tensho era and had declined for some time.
It became a national shrine in the Meiji era, but it is said that it was relocated to Shiogama Shrine because the precincts were narrow and the shrine could not be built.
