★ ★ ★ ★ ★ 春先の田植えの時期になると水が張られた水田の中に、濃い緑の木々に覆われた一角がポツンと見えてきます。さながら水面に浮かぶ小島かと錯覚しそうな景観の神社が南宮神社です。
多賀城市観光協会によると、“もともと一組の男女の神が祀られていたところに、津波で社を失った若い女神（色の御前）が同居したと伝えられています。”とのこと。その伝承に由来するようにこの場所の地名も「多賀城市南宮色の地」となっています。
また、色の御前が受けた津波は、室町時代の享徳3年（1454年12月）に起こった享徳地震（きょうとくじしん）ではないかと思われますが、記録が乏しく詳細は不明です。
