★ ★ ★ ★ ★ 子供の百日咳にご利益があるといわれてきた神社です。
百日咳の為にお参りした人は神社から手のひらにのるくらいの小さな甕を持ち帰り家にお祭りするそうです。
百日咳が治ったら、甕を神社に納めなおして参拝するそうです。
この神社の奥には大きな甕がご神体として安置されています。
この甕は京都から巡りめぐりこの地に着いたようです。
そして、この地から移動しようとしてもここに戻ってくることになるそうです。
例えば、こんな話が残っているそうです。
松森城、鶴ヶ城に伊達家の家臣として熊谷という武士がいたそうです。
この武士が伊達家にこの甕を献上しようとしたら嵐がきて献上行列の進行をあきらめたそうです。
その甕は神社の奥に静かに安置されているそうです。
面白いことにこの甕は素戔嗚が八岐大蛇を退治するときに八岐大蛇に酒を飲ませるために使用した甕の一つと言われています。
現在は、毎年４月に内々だけでお祭りをするそうです。
【想像】
さて、手水のところに一つ石碑があります。
昭和に作られたらしいその石には「蛇王権現」と書かれていました。
もしかして、甕は象徴であって、ここの神様の本性は蛇のような姿をされているのかもと想像しました。
この神社は覆屋がされていてその覆屋の天井には五爪の龍が描かれています。
聞くところによると、この神社の持ち主、現当主の祖父が描いたものらしい。
とても迫力があり一見の価値がありますよ。

It seems that there was a samurai named Kumagai as a vassal of the Date family in Matsumori Castle and Tsuruga Castle.
It seems that when this samurai tried to give this pot to the Date family, a storm came and gave up on the procession.
The jar is said to be quietly enshrined inside the shrine.
Interestingly, this jar is said to be one of the jars used by Sojitsu to give sake to the Yagi Obi when he exterminates it.
At present, it is said that the festival is held only in April every year.

By the way, there is one stone monument in the hand water.
The stone that seems to have been made in the Showa era was written as "Snake King Gongen."
I imagined that the jar was a symbol and that the god's nature here looked like a snake.
This shrine is covered with a five-clawed dragon on the ceiling.
According to what I hear, it seems that it was drawn by the grandfather of the owner, the current head of the shrine.
It's very powerful and worth a visit.
