★ ★ ★ ★ ★ 元禄二年（1689）高館を訪れて詠んだ、「夏草や兵どもが夢の跡」を刻んでいます。
左の小さい碑が芭蕉の真筆と言われ、芭蕉の甥・碓花坊也寥禅師による建碑です。
右の碑は文化三年（1806）に地元俳人素鳥達によって建てられた副碑です。
芭蕉のあのよく知られた俳句の石碑が、毛越寺にあるとは知らず、ちょっとした感動を受けました。
英訳碑もあったのですが、海外でもよく知られているとは知らず、こちらもちょっとした驚きを感じました。
 In the second year of Genroku (1689), he visited Takadachi and wrote "Summer grass and soldiers are the traces of dreams."
The small monument on the left is said to be Basho's autograph, and is a monument built by Basho's nephew, Usuka Boya Zen Master.
The monument on the right is an accessory monument built by local poet birds in the third year of culture (1806).
I didn't know that Basho's well-known haiku stone monument was in Motsuji Temple, and I was a little moved.
There was also an English translation monument, but I didn't know that it was well known overseas, and I was a little surprised.
