There is a shrine dedicated to the superior Kukai Keshi, the founder of Shingon sect established the Shingon esoteric Buddhism in Koto Tōzuji and then entered Koyasan. Kukai is said to have been named himself from the fact that it was "sky" and "sea" that I saw from the cave during training. It was not his real name.
