D	Dylan on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Sadly, I and two friends of mine allowed ourselves to be cheated at this restaurant. While waiting for the bar next door to open, we decided to go in for a snack. We only ordered a pasta for ￥800, which was not bad at all. Our server was cold and detached, and took a very long time to bring the food, which we took in stride. However, he asked me if a ￥500 charge for bread and water was ok, and I accepted. We were speaking in Japanese, which is not my native language, so I was not sure if we had to do this at all. Anyway, the server never brought any bread or water. We finished our meal and went to pay the bill, upon which we were charged ￥500 per person for bread and water that we never received. I suspect that the waiter believed that he could get away with cheating foreigners in this way. We argued with him and explained (in Japanese, which was a mistake), that this was wholly unreasonable and that we did not want to pay. He told us coldly that we never asked for bread and water, which is why he never brought it. This is a ridiculous claim given that most restaurants bring water and bread for no charge and without asking. Throughout the whole exchange, the server was rude and obnoxious. Unfortunately, I was exhausted and afraid to escalate the conflict further, so we paid up and left. In retrospect, I would have refused to pay. If you visit this restaurant, I would encourage you to refuse to pay these ridiculous charges. This will send the message that dishonest and scheming business practices like these are not welcome.
