★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Worst udon I've ever tasted. No need to be hurry. If you're hungry after visiting the bamboo grove, just walk a bit more to the main street near the train station. Many other better options for food there.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Stand-up food stand at the entrance of The Bamboo Forest in an extremely touristy section of Kyoto. No seats, just a couple of tables and benches (some seats placed under the window where you return your tray). Seemly low prices for food (IE, plate of curry for about 500 yen), but food is served on disposable plates that are significantly smaller than displayed. Sizes are about 1/2 to 1/3 of what you would regularly expect from a restaurant in Japan. Taste is about average, service is fine. Knowing the area is somewhat expensive in price, its still not a good value. Find a restaurant at Kyoto Station before arriving, or pick another nearby restaurant. Can not recommend.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ On our way back to the station near the Bamboo forest we stopped by and got a chicken on a stick and the beef croquettes. The chicken was okay but the croquettes were really good! I would order it again! The only croquette I have had are low quality so maybe there could be better but I still wish I could have gotten another one!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ It's run by C h i n e s e! So nothing authentic. It's pathetic, people come all the way from other countries (mostly from Chinese speaking countries) to Arashiyama for very Japanese experience, and wasting money at such place. I recommend other more authentic shops.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The best tasting and quality bamboo shoot udon I've ever had in Kyoto. The soup is clear and in perfect conjuction to the noodles, not too hard or soft. Price is excellent (500 yen) compared to other noodle places that are double or triple the price, but have little to offer. Great job!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We stopped here for a snack before the bamboo forest. Just a very small snack sized container of fried chicken. It wasn't great at all. Overpriced too. They grabbed the worst looking container that had less than all the others and the chicken tasted cheap and like it had been sitting out for quite a while. Go elsewhere for something to eat. This place sucked.
