On the grounds of the Miyagi NPO Square, a stone monument is quietly buried to the plant on the road. It is the one of the dated house in the Edo period. The engraved characters themselves are exposed to the elements and difficult to read, but if there is an explanation on the side, they will be understandable.

The building containing the Miyagi NPO Plaza and the Miyagi Women's Hall was formerly used as the Miyagi Prefectural Archives and before that as the Miyagi Prefectural Library. Beside the entrance to the site, there is a monument to the Shakado (Azalea). This stone monument was erected in accordance with the Shakado, which was built by Date Tsunamura, the fourth feudal lord of the Sendai domain, 10 years after the death of his mother Hatsuko Mizawa. Shakado was moved to Koshoji Temple in Tsutsujigaoka 4-chome, Miyagino-ku with the construction of the Miyagi Prefectural Library, but it seems that only the stone monument was left. Tsutsujigaoka Park, which is right in front of you, is one of the most famous cherry blossom viewing spots in Sendai City, but if you trace the origin, it started with planting cherry blossoms along with the construction of this Shakado so that the common people can enjoy it. It is said that teahouses were lined up in Monzen-cho. It is also a valuable historic site for learning about the history of Sendai, so I think it is a stone monument that can be cherished even more. On the premises of the Miyagi Prefectural Archives, there is a stone monument called "Kashioka Shakado Monument". This monument was erected by Date Tsunamura, the fourth feudal lord of the Sendai domain, who drafted the inscription himself in 1695. The way that parents and children should be, such as "Makoto Takashi's meaning," is explained. Tsunamura, whose childhood name is Kamechiyo, attacked Date 620,000 stones when he was only two years old. After that, he wrote the novel "The Tree of the Tree Remains" (written by Shugoro Yamamoto) and Kabuki "Kara". You will encounter the "Date Sodo" (Kabuki case), which is known to have been the subject of the "predecessor Hagi", but in that case, for the living mother "Hatsuko Mizawa" who saved herself from the danger. It is said that he did his best for the rest of his life. Since the mother's first child was deeply devoted to Buddhism and always wore a small Buddha statue, Tsunamura worshiped the Buddha statue that became a keepsake in Genroku 8th year, which is the 10th year after his mother died. It is said that the "Azalea Oka Shakyamuni" was erected, and this stone monument was erected in an attempt to convey the virtues of the mother to posterity.
On the premises of the old prefectural library. The place where Shakado was located until 1973. The 4th feudal lord, Tsunamura, built Shakado to mourn his mother and planted weeping cherry trees ordered from Kyoto. It is the origin of Tsutsujigaoka Park, the current famous place for cherry blossoms. While enjoying the cherry blossoms, why don't you touch the path that Tsunamura preaches for parents and children?
