T	Trip.com Member on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I'm surprised and happy as well when I found this because for me as a Christian it's a relieve to read Bible in my travelling time. A short half hour stroll will bring you to the lively shopping area of Teramachi Arcade and Gion. The hotel is little far from the JR Kyoto station a bus or taxi ride to the hotel is needed.

The big street in between is Karasuma. After hearing my good friend (a sucker for value-for-money) raved about Toyoko Inn, I am finally staying in a Toyoko Inn.

Have to keep the curtains closed if u dun want to feel the next door can peek through. I highly recommend joining it if you stay more than a few days in Kyoto or you think you may use Toyoko inn again in Japan.

The price perfor***ce of this chain has always exceeded my expectation. Walkable to Kyoto station and Shijo. I would stay in Toyoko Inn if it is just an overnight stay (check-in late, check-in early) and I want the convenience.

By comparison of location for shopping the ther ToyokoInn brach Shijo will be more closer to main shopping area. There are some restaurants and Family Mart nearby but it is more of a business district and quite a distance to anything of interest.
T	Trip.com Member on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Every room is provided to fulfil your basic needs. Staff are well presented. It's a cheap business hotel and it looks and feel that way. I highly recommend joining it if you stay more than a few days in Kyoto or you think you may use Toyoko inn again in Japan.
N	Nathan Dodds on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ There are a few things to like about this place. The location, the staff are really friendly, the rooms are a decent size and its very clean. However the few negatives far outway the positives. It is noisy, you can hear everything that goes on above, beside and below you. There is only one elevator in a 12 floor building which means you can spend a bit of time waiting for the elevator. The rooms are cold, you cant change the heater settings and the temperature of the room is always 17C. And the breaking point for me was the bed was like sleeping on concrete. I woke up so sore in the morning I could not actually finish my stay and had to change hotels.
