太平記によると、
花山院 後醍醐天皇幽閉
足利尊氏の和議申し込みに謀られた後醍醐天皇は花山院に幽閉される。その後、女装して脱出し吉野へ逃れている。
花山院を逃れた後醍醐天皇は吉野に籠もられた。
これが南朝の始まりになる。1336年暮。
以後、50年あまりの間南北両朝が存在することになる。
