Superb experience. Great location. Free shuttle service (need to call hotel at train station.) We had a room with direct feed of onsen into a tub that oversees the lake. Great food. Great amenities. Clean. Spacious. Wonderful.

Definitely will come back again. The service was superb and the amount of detail they put in was unimaginable. Food was worth it Waking up to a private onsen or having a dip at night was the climax. Also their public baths were clean and refreshing. Weather was perfect in this location too.

Nice view and good location, but the staff is so unfriendly and impolite, chasing you to pass your passbook for check in immediately upon arrival, terrible food serving in dinner, rice is cold and all dishes is bad except dessert is ok. The worst meal that I have had in Japan's Onsen Hotel. I'm definitely won't come back again or recommend to my friends

Quiet Lovely Onsen Ryokan in a sleepy town. Great place to escape from the tourist hoards:- HOSPITALITY: Lovely warm and welcoming staff. Was graciously shown around the facility and to our beautiful room by a nice gentlemanly staff who could be the floor manager. Most of the staff are helpful except for the not so warm front desk guy. There are some English speaking staff here who seems to be assigned to take care of foreign guests like us. ROOM: We picked the Fuga room (A traditional Japanese-style room equipped with a private open-air hot spring bathroom) on the 6th floor (their highest floor). We paid 65,100yen for the room plus kaiseki dinner and buffet style seafood barbeque breakfast for 2pax.The room has a lovely view of the lake and it was clean and spacious. FOOD: Their Kaiseki dinner is at the dining area instead of inside your bedroom. The ingredients are fresh and of high quality and carefully presented. And we are impressed by the positive and professional attitude of the waiter assigned to our table. He spoke little English but was very enthusiastic and patient with his introduction of the food served. We also loved that they served buffet style BBQ seafood for breakfast. LOCATION: The ryokan is right beside the lake. And it's nice to stroll around the lake side with beautiful view. We felt that this ryokan is a nice place to escape from the hustle and bustle of city life and the noisy hoards of tourist. And I could see that this ryokan mostly has local guests more than tourists. Actually there were lots of senior citizen guest here during our visit. Overall, we are very satisfied with our stay here. We were shown great hospitality and felt welcomed. Their meals were delicious and of great value. I did experienced an unpleasant incident here at the onsen bath where someone took my towel but apart from that, all is well. I appreciate and enjoyed the buffet seafood barbecue for breakfast. Before I came here, I did wish for our dinner could be served in our room as per usual onsen ryokan practice for kaiseki plans. But after experiencing the kaiseki meal at the dinning area with professional server, I have no more complaints. Therefore to me, Biwako Ryokusuitei is worth your visit and to splurge your money on. Yes, I am a happy first time guest of Ryokusuitei <3

This was by far the best accommodation experience I have had in Japan. The staff were very friendly and the concierge gentleman was very approachable and helpful when we asked him how to use the baths and Japanese customs and made us westerners feel very comfortable. The beds were very soft and rooms were nice. We didn't have a room with a hot spring but you don't need one as the share bath house was relaxing and we had it all to ourselves. I loved all the washing and make up station. We found the breakfast confusing but that's only because it's so different to what we have in Australia and the waiters were happy to explain it to us. The coffee was good. I had a hot oil massage and it was very relaxing. I would recommend this place to any westerners wanting to try a traditional Japanese experience and encourage you to wear the robes!

It's one of the most special experience we had in Japan. The staff were very warm and friendly. There is van that can pick you up from the JR station. We had a room with private hot spring and Tatami, at night the staff prepared beds for us which was very comfortable. We also had a traditional Japanese dinner in room, 5 courses which is stunning. The buffet breakfast is also good, there is BBQ fishes and the rice was good. I would recommend this place if you'd have a traditional Japanese experience.

I'm staying here now. They didn't have a nonfish option for breakfast but they were able to help me find something for tomorrow morning. Staff are all very kind! The room cost 55,000 yen or about $550 dollars but the room has many dirty spots. The table has scrapes all over it and the floor does too. The outside onsen or open air bath is great but if I use it, people outside the hotel can easily see me naked.!!! There's a curtain but that won't help much.

I stayed with family one night and everything was amazing. We had dinner in a private room with superb food, there was also wagyu beef in the mix! The rooms are splendid, they have a tatami math and mine had a lake view and one small Onsen bathtub in the balcony!
