★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We ended up in this place because the bar owner was playing the clarinet. It drew us in and I'm glad it did. My boyfriend and I had one of our best nights in Japan because we came in here. I speak a little Japanese and the bar owner speaks a little English. We had great conversations as he recommended different sake (he even has a chart for you to select from based on sweet or dry, strong or light). We had delicious oden and were about to head out when we met new friends who kept us there for another hour. We had more sake and more oden. If I ever go back to Kyoto, I will definitely come back here.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Very friendly place. Lots of fun. A great place to try Sake. The owner has about 20 Sake on offer and has them grouped on a four quadrant chart between strong and soft and sweet and dry. We went with his recommendations to start and the proceeded to drink everything on the chart. He also has some specialised ones such as unfiltered. Because the bar is small and curved, it was very convivial and we made some new friends. The food was good also - small share plates or oden. This turned into a great and inspiring evening of Sake appreciation. Recommended.
