坂本龍馬（日語：坂本 龍馬，1836年1月3日－1867年11月15日）。通稱直柔、龍馬。生於天保六年十一月十五日，亡於慶應三年十一月十五日，日本幕末時期的土佐藩鄉士，後來兩度脫藩而成為維新志士，與脫藩浪士組織日本第一個有限公司的龜山社中（後改為海援隊），是促成薩摩及長州二藩成立軍事同盟的重要推手之一，而由其向後藤象二郎所提出的船中八策，也成為後來維新政府的重要指導方針。死後，由明治維新後的新政府追贈正四位（明治二十四年，1891年4月8日）。於志士活動期間為了避人耳目曾使用假名「才谷梅太郎」。

A limited company’s Kameyama Club (later renamed the Marine Rescue Team) was one of the important promoters for the formation of a military alliance between Satsuma and the Choshou feudal clan, and the ship’s eight policies proposed by it to Goto Shojiro also It became an important guideline for the later reform government. After his death, the new government after the Meiji Restoration gave him four regulars (Meiji Twenty-fourth Year, April 8, 1891). In order to avoid people's eyes and ears, he used the pseudonym "Saitani Umetaro" during the activities of the Apostle.

ようやく京(現:京都)に戻ってきたのが、慶応3(1867)年6月。
その時に、身を寄せたのが、材木商の「酢屋」でした。
このころの酢屋は、材木屋だけでなく、
高瀬川で運送業も営んでいました。
当時の高瀬川は、京(現:京都)の中心部と伏見を結んでいて、
酢屋の前まで高瀬舟が出入りしていたので、
伏見や大坂(現：大阪)との連絡に都合が良かったようです。

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ 池田屋と目と鼻の先の場所であることに驚いた。京都の町中は史跡だらけ。犬も歩けばで当てもなくぶらぶらしていてこういう史跡を見つけるのは楽しい。
I was surprised at the location just a stone's throw from Ikedaya. The town of Kyoto is full of historic sites. It's fun to find such historic sites as dogs are hanging around without a hitch.

酢屋の跡地。
坂本龍馬さんは、京都ではよく酢屋を利用していたと聞いています。
15年ほど前に行った時、2階に展示スペースがあり、そちらも見て回りました。
案内の方のいらっしゃり、丁寧で良かったのですが、
私の聞きたいことには答えてくれず、自分だけ喋りたいことだけ喋っていたので、ちょっと残念な気がしたのを覚えています。
それでも幕末好きな方は、おすすめしたい場所です。
池田屋跡地や、他の近江屋跡地も近くにありますので、
合わせて訪問してみてください。
私も、出来ればもう一度見に行きたいと思いながら、
なかなか京都に行けないのが残念です。
