★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Decent view upstairs but the tempura and the katsu were both extremely soggy. Pretty convinced they were microwaved or something. Also, one of our rice bowls had extremely wet rice.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ What a great place! They have a good system of ordering before you take your seat upstairs which makes it very easy. You get to look out the window at a gorgeous temple as well. We didn't find too many don places around so this was a good find.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ This restaurant is situated right across the street of the Hokaji Buddhist temple. On the second floor, pick a window seat and watch passersby dressed in traditional kimono and yakuta while you eat. With so many streets with sights to see, this is a great pitt stop to refuel and rest. They specialise in rice bowl dishes ranging from ¥980, which is good value for the amount of food you're getting. With each rice dish you get pickled raddish and miso soup. Staff is very friendly and can speak some English.
