A cute little shrine in the heart of Kyoto. Popular spot for Instagram photos, tends to be crowded midday. Worth a visit!

Took a late walk, it was closed but the night pictures were worth the walk. Very well illuminated for night photography

This temple is very unique, guess there's no other one like Kongoji Temple with all the colorful balls in such a small temple. Temple is free to enter, but I think they are selling the balls if you wanted to make an offering.

A very small temple in Kyoto, yet charming. You can see the old customs & beliefs of Shinto temple through its unique talisman: Kukurizaru (hanging monkey). The ball represents a tied monkey. So, it means controlling your desires (letting go of your desires). Inside it, people write their desires as a symbol of giving them up in order to attain peacefulness

Small temple with personalized colorful prayers/wishes. Was a little crowded when I arrived but still got to enjoy it. Charms were a little more expensive than other temples that I’ve been to but I didn’t mind paying a little extra. However due to the amount of people there it was hard to enjoy the full temple effect ie praying because of all the visitors taking pictures. I highly suggest visiting though! ♥️

I like orange. I like three monkeys. Hence this place is sooooo cool to my eyes. Small, unique, bit of mysterious, as this is Buddha shrine, there’s a bit different seeing the place. But the harmony of it, doesn’t go off with the surrounding. The place is not as crowded as other shrines. The colorful ornaments- whatever it symbolizes- are really good in eyes.

Popular place for kimono ? dressing photos with the younger crowd. The offering is super colorful and are sold on the premises to write a message and hang on site. They close early at 5pm daily.
