★ ★ ★ ★ ★ My first Okonomiyaki (1200 jpy) and Yaki Soba (900 jpy) in Osaka. Both are yummy and worth the try. We had chicken cheese asparagus Okonomiyaki and it was lovely. Came in at around 9pm on Friday and we don't need to wait. Staffs are friendly as well.

The staff is nice and it's possible to watch the chefs, who prepare the food in front of your eyes! ?

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ When in Osaka, you gotta have okonomiyaki, right? We decided on Houzenji Sampei after researching a few okonomiyaki shops. Of course, you can always get some as street food in Kuromon Market but you can't beat the places that specialize in it. Like Houzenji Sampei.
With different combinations (or a design-your-own option), you can try many different flavours and tastes. The best part though is that they make the pancake for you and bring it to your tabletop grill to season and dress, unlike other places that give you the premade batter to cook yourself. For a newbie at flipping pancakes, this was godsend. We ordered 3 different pancakes and a yaki-soba for 4 people, which left us all bursting at the seams. The yakisoba was bland (perhaps, because they don't specialize in it...) but all 3 of the okonomiyaki(s) were amazing, with crisp edges and tender insides. My favourite was the Shimei mushroom + scallop + cheese option.
If you're ever in Osaka, I implore you to try a specialized okonomiyaki restaraunt. I highly recommend Houzenji Sampei be that restaurant!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Had a sensational selection of okonomiyaki while visiting here. The food was sensational and it was a delight watching the chefs create the dishes. Nice small plate with a great atmosphere. Definitely check this place out if you're in the area.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Their okonomiyaki (Japanese pancake) is full of flavor (900¥ for the bacon and kimchi cheapest one) and the waitress is really pretty (I agree with some previous reviewers ?). Ordered a 400¥ hot sale as well. English menu available.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ One of the top places in Osaka for okonomiyaki. Intimate, great staff, you can sit at a table or at the bar and watch the chefs do their thing. Beef with tendon and green onions (#2) was particularly good. No wait when we went at opening (5pm) but there was a queue when we left.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Highly recommend the yakisoba. Way better than any fried noodles I’ve had in my life. Okonomiyaki is abit bland for my taste. Sitting in front of the grill lets you see how your food is prepared but it is also super hot and oily.
Cosy atmosphere overall.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Came here on a Thursday night around 6:30. We waited 5-10 minutes and got seated. The place was a little hard to find because it is in an alley between two of the main streets. We probably circled around a good two and a half times before we realized.
Anyways! So worth it! It’s smells and tastes delicious. We had the BUTTER FISH ROE yakisoba and SHRIMP SHISHO OKONO. So so so yummy.
We ordered these things to share but honestly 3 things between two people would’ve been perfect.
