内部は中規模横穴式石室（全長9.36ｍ）
後世に仏堂として再利用され、仏塚の名もこれに由来。
古墳は6世紀末に築かれ膳氏に関わる人物の墓と推定。
A tomb in the late Kofun period built on the eastern slope of the mountain behind Horyuji Temple.
The mound is a 23-meter-long square tumulus.
Inside is a medium-sized side-hole stone room (total length 9.36m)
It was reused as a Buddhist temple in later generations, and the name of the Buddha mound is derived from this.
The tomb was built at the end of the 6th century and is presumed to be the grave of a person involved in Zen.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ 6世紀末に造られた一辺23メートルの方墳です。斑鳩町火葬場を越えて、極楽寺霊園の横道を北へ、霊園を過ぎた左側の道路沿いに案内板があります。案内板から、脇道を下っていけば古墳に近づけます。整備されている感じはあまりないので、雑草がすごいです。田の畦道を進めば、落ちた看板があり。石室が見えます。案内板は古墳の歴史が詳しく書かれていて、親切です。ブロッコリーに似た可愛らしい方墳です。
It is a 23-meter-sided burial mound built at the end of the 6th century. After crossing the Ikaruga crematorium, head north on the side street of Gokurakuji Reien, and there is a guide board along the road on the left side past the reien. From the information board, go down the side road to get closer to the tumulus. Weeds are amazing because it doesn't feel very well maintained. If you follow the ridge of the rice field, you will see a sign that has fallen. You can see the stone chamber. The information board has a detailed history of the tumulus and is kind. A cute burial mound that resembles broccoli.

Googleマップ通りだとこの古墳の裏手に出て、深い溝があるので辿り着けません。
一本左手（西側）の道から進み、田んぼの畦道を通ってようやく到着できます。
サイクリングロードから少しだけ外れますが（数分です）これぞ古墳！
といった外観と、中身の構造が覗けるのが
満足度が高いです。

If you follow Google Maps, you will find yourself behind this burial mound, and there is a deep groove that you cannot reach.
Proceed from the road on the left side (west side), and you can finally arrive through the ridge road of the rice field.
It's a little off the cycling road (a few minutes), but this is an old burial mound!

古墳前、最後の分岐は左側の道を進むとあります。
私有地と思われる田んぼの脇を通らないと近づけません。
中も覗けるようになってましたが、
入り口付近に蜘蛛の巣が張っていたのに、
手前から軽く覗き込んだだけです。
I stopped by at Ikaruga Shrine.
In front of the tumulus, the last branch is on the left side.
You can't get close unless you pass by the rice field, which seems to be private land.
