★ ★ ★ ★ ★ 養老館にはツアーで行きました。津和野の街がきれいで、地元のお土産やさんの若い男性ガイドに案内をしてもらったのですが、その話がとても面白かった事と、きれいな水が流れていて、たくさんの錦鯉が泳いでいた事等が印象に残っています。

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ 券売機で購入できる入館料100円（津和野町に在住の方は無料）、購入するとカードが養老館のカードが出てくる。無人ではあるが、マナーは守ろう。津和野藩の藩校。安政年間に、菁々舎と改名された1786年（天明6年）、津和野藩8代藩主亀井矩賢が森村の字下中島に設置。授業としては儒学、医学、兵学のほか、現在、観覧できる剣術、槍術がある。門下生としては、西周、森鴎外、福羽美静といった著名人を輩出している。津和野という人口的には小規模の地で多くの著名人を輩出した理由の一つではないだろうか

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ 改装オープンしてもうすぐ3年くらい経ちます。江戸末期の津和野の教育や藩の自治の質の高さに感心します。
It's been almost 3 years since the renovation opened. I am impressed with the high quality of education in Tsuwano and the autonomy of the clan in the late Edo period.

ただ、建物自体にはあまり見ごたえはないです。
入口に100円の券売機がありますが、津和野町郷土館などに寄れば100円返金してくれます。
職員「ここに来る前にどちらかに寄られました？」
私「養老館へ行ってきました。」
職員「じゃあ、100円返金します。」
私「では、自販機のカードを返しますね。」
職員「いえ、結構です。そのままお持ち下さい。」
事前に養老館の自販機のカードの提示を求められるわけでもなく100円返金されましたが、もし私が自販機でカードを買っていなかったら100円儲かってしまうことになります。
性善説に基づいたシステムですね。
