★ ★ ★ ★ ★ 400円の入館料を高いという口コミがあったけど、興味がないから高いと思ったんだろう。興味がないなら最初から来なければよかったんだ。津和野は小京都のイメージがあるけど、津和野藩はキリシタンを預かる藩だったそうで、預かったキリシタンを改宗させるために拷問をしてたそうです。この郷土館には拷問道具の「三尺牢」が復元されて展示されてると聞いたことがあるけど、見損なってしまった。約１メートル四方の箱の中にキリシタンを入れてたそうで、立つことも座ることもできず、改宗した人もいたらしいが、改宗しなかった人もいたらしい。そういう歴史を知らずに400円は高いというのは如何なものか？

津和野城主の歴史資料、絵画・陶芸品などの芸術文化、大河ドラマでも出品された約４００年前の「フランキ砲」の展示、西周などの津和野町が輩出した著名人の展示等を行っている。

この碑は明和６年（１７６９）建立の古いもので、字体が変わっていて面白い。

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ 郷土館は地域の歴史を伝えるために百年前に作られたらしい。今の建物は、昭和17年に建てられたもの。
中は撮影禁止だったので写真はないが、かなりの展示物があった。
