約70年ぶりに復活した琵琶湖疏水船 乗船ガイドさんが運航時に詳しくガイドいただける。蹴上の下船後の散策で産業遺産も見どころ。山科は風光明媚な大自然と紅葉で有名な毘沙門堂、浜大津は三井寺やアーカスなどが徒歩圏内。京阪のローカル線も楽しい。

70年ぶりに蘇った琵琶湖疏水船に乗って、京都蹴上から大津まで行ってきました。 琵琶湖疏水船はサイトから予約できます。ただ便数・席数ともとても少なく、下り5便・上り4便、定員10名(もう一隻は14名?)。週5日運行。春(3・4・5月)は、GW中に残り数席のみ、それ以降は完売です。GWなのに空いているのはハイシーズンが8000円と高額なせいかと思います。桜・紅葉の季節以外でも十分価値があると思います。秋は10・11月のみです。 気温25度以上でも、疎水上は寒いので、5月以外は防寒が必要です。 琵琶湖からの流れに逆らって猛スピードで進みます。元気な女性ガイドさんがみっちり説明してくれるので飽きることなく楽しめます。疎水開発の経緯や困難さとその価値を知ることで、明治維新後の京都という忘れられがちの歴史を新鮮に学ぶことができます。 京都リピーターなら絶対一度は体験ください。 (永続的に続くかどうかはわかりません。売上では8000万円くらいにしかならないので、2隻の維持費と人的コストを考えると厳しいはずです。)

桜が少しだけ咲き始めた時期で、満開の桜というわけにはいきませんでしたが、当日は天気もよく十分楽しめました。特に、ガイドのトムさんのトークが軽妙で、とても楽しく疏水の歴史が理解できました。明治時代に想いを馳せながら心地よい観光ができるオススメのアクティビティです。

滋賀県大津から京都府蹴上までの琵琶湖疎水を遊覧船で下りました。 4月中旬で天気は良かったので、ノンビリ船旅と寛いでましたが、トンネル内は結構寒かったです。 約一時間の乗船時間ですが、ゆったりとした時間を過ごすことができました。
I took a pleasure boat down the Lake Biwa Canal from Otsu, Shiga Prefecture to Keage, Kyoto Prefecture. The weather was nice in mid-April, so I was relaxed with a non-billy cruise, but the inside of the tunnel was quite cold. It was about an hour on board, but I was able to spend a relaxing time.

桜の開花時期にクルーズ船に乗りました。疏水沿いの桜が美しくガイドさんの説明も秀逸で楽しめました。春秋の就航で一月程前よりHPにて予約します。

昼間は暖かい日でも、登りの船はすごく寒いので注意(11月)。乗っている間はずっと強風が吹いてる状態でさらにトンネルの中は冷えてますから。 とは言うものの、京都市水道局は面白いことをやってます。見どころはトンネルの出入り口で船に乗らなければ見れないです。ただしトンネル内は船に照明はあるもののしっかりコンクリで塗ってあるので当時のレンガの地肌は見えません。途中の紅葉具合が良かったこと、サギがまったく逃げずに居ることなど、席が一番後ろだったので写真は撮りやすかったです。

Lake Biwa canal is constructed in 1890 and have been used as water facility until now. Cruising on the canal is great to watch nice scenery and old structures. (It’s needed to reserve on the web.)
