教諭所は、幕末の京都の庶民教育機関であった。
教育の特徴は、経書講釈や心学道話の授業のほかに、飢民救助などの社会的事業に積極的に参加していたこととされる。
明治2年に下京4番組小学校となり教諭所は、消滅しましました。

ただ、京都市の案内板が立っているだけ。
しかし案内板があるだけでありがたいことなのかも。京都市は千年以上の歴史が積み上がっていて、街のあちこちが歴史の舞台。
その長い歴史の流れの果てにその舞台の様相が激変している。
このような案内板が無ければ、その土地にまつわる事実は知らないままで通り過ぎてしまう。
