応安元年(1368年)、雷雨のとき 邸宅の池から白龍が昇天するのが目撃され、「龍躍池」と名付けられました。
後に この池が 現在の「御池通り」の名の起源となったという 有力な説が有ります❗?

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ 「龍躍池」址の案内板があるあたりが「龍池町」と呼ばれるのは、南北朝時代の1381年に太政大臣を務めた二条良基が築いた邸宅に「龍躍池（りゅうやくち）」と呼ばれる名園が存在したことに由来しているとの事でした。
現在は、オヒィスビル街になっているので町名だけが残っている感じですね。
