Tottori Sand Dunes - Tottori

Sand sculpture museum. Every year a different exposition. In 21 it was Czech republic and Slovakia. Very truthful to the source I must admit!

Very interesting place to visit. It’s like a combination of desert and beach. The one area is full of sand, the size is 20km by 15km apparently. It is quite windy by the sea. It will be Sandy in your shoes after walking the area just like walking on a beach. You can also try riding camels or paragliding. Sand museum located close to this area is a place you must visit! Overall, it was a fantastic experience and you may need at least 2-3 hours to be spent.

Absolutely unexpected to find such huge yellow dunes in Japan, where usually the coasts are more of a volcanic origin. We felt like being somewhere in a dessert. Stunning views and the best sunset since long time. Big advantage when you visit the west coast :)

The sand dune is quite large and connected to the sea. The place is fun as we can walk barefooted on soft sand. We cannot dip in the sea, but walking on the shore is already fun. Unfortunately, the camel was only operated until 4 pm. And we got there just before 4 pm. And not all of the area is sand. There is grass field and pond (like an oasis?).

11/12/2021 ( Saturday) (15:30) Beautiful and amazing place to go with family or friends. If you live in japan ?? do visit Tottori for this beautiful human made Sand dunes ?. The evening is really very beautiful. Car ? parking is free for whole day and this is the best thing I love . There is no entry fee it’s totally free . Toilets ? are available and clean ?. Wheelchair ♿️ is not ok as wheelchair can not take it to desert . Their are stairs to go to desert area so be careful if you come with elder ? people . Their are many souvenir shops near by the sand dunes that are in road . The Sand Museum is very near and 5 mins walk from sand dunes . The camel ? ride is for 1-2 mins for ¥1500 I think it’s expensive though but for your first time experience it can be fun . Their is paragliding service also that starts from ¥20000 ~ and onwards . Their are sitting ? rail kind of thing I don’t what to say but you can experience the view while sitting and can go up to Terrance and it costs ¥400 for round trip and ¥300 for one way and I took and it is really worth the price . Camel ? ride last time is 15:30 so do come on time otherwise you cannot ride . If it is rainy ? or windy ? the camels ? are not out and their will be no camel ride on that day so make sure to make your trip wisely . Other than that the sand dunes view is mesmerizing and beautiful ?. You will need to walk a lot if you want to see whole desert and climb ?‍♀️ till up and see the ocean ? so better come in comfortable dress and shoes ?. Better carry ? as japan ?? is cash country ?. I think is a bus ? facility also from tottori station ? to sand dunes . Must go and share your experience. Vending machine is available but only downstairs.

A nice view - (that’s all). The camel ride is about 1 min and they just walk you around in a circle and tell you some random facts - at a a very overpriced rate. 2600 yen for 2 people, 1500 for 1 person. You cannot swim at the beach due to strong currents.

Definitely I have not chose the right time to visit the dune but was special and beautiful as well. It was a tone of snow and to so easy to navigate however we got a nice time. Bus comes on time to not get freeze. Was nice to got the place for ourselves. Must say the workers at the bus station at tottori wasn’t helpful at all and they make us wait for one hot for nothing.
