会津若松市見渡せる所にあります。墓碑は松平容保公が費用を出し
副長土方歳三が見守る中作られと聞いています。
毎年、会津若松市ライオンズクラブの皆様が供養しておられました。
その後 お堂の前で「天然理心流」現宗家と一門が剣技披露されています。

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ 近藤勇の墓と萱野権兵衛とその次男の郡長正の墓があるお寺です。御朱印が頂けます。
本堂の前で手を合わせただけで、中をみたりは出来ませんでした。社務所と繋がっていますので、ちらっと中を覗いた程度です。
とても静かなお寺で、200mほど山を登ると近藤勇の墓があります。萱野権兵衛とその次男郡長正の墓は近藤勇の墓とは真逆の方にあります。

こちらには新撰組局長の近藤勇の墓があります。いろんな伝説がありますが京都で近藤勇のさらし首が何者かに持ち去られ首が行方不明になりましたが天寧寺に埋葬された伝説です。
当時、土方歳三が新撰組を率いていましたがその土方歳三が建てた近藤勇の墓です。局長の首をさらしたままにしておけず土方歳三の指示のもと京都から首を盗み持ち帰らせ天寧寺に埋葬と話がありますが信じたくなります。歴史や新撰組が好きな方には訪れてほしい場所です。

Recommended only to Shinsengumi's hard fans.
