It's a beautiful place, and you can create your own akabeko (red cow, the icon of aizu). And they also have the archery area, but I think it closed when rain comes. And you can buy souvenir on tax free shop. Cheap but good quality. Love it

Literally the best samurai residence for me so far. The place is HUGE and it has a lot of information (especially if you can read Japanese). I spent a good part of my visit to Aizu here.

A beautiful place. The preserved manor is very interesting and pretty, the archery at the end was really fun.

A great place to get to know Japanese history. Might be interesting for kids. Keep in mind tho that it's kind of old, and so are some of the props. But that's what made it special imo. I saw many people complaining about the entrance price here in their reviews, but you should keep in mind that being located in Tohoku, Aizu doesn't get that many visitors, so the price is quite understandable. Anyhow, the souvenir shop is very nice and you can find some very cool things here. p.s. If you visit Bukeyashiki on January the 1st, you will be given amazake and mochi for free.

A huge Samurai houses. The main one reminds me English palaces. You can enjoy seeing around.

Beautiful historic grounds in Aizuwakamatsu! When you purchase a ticket to go inside you are greeted by wonderful staff and a nice warm rice sweet drink which is great during the winter season! From there it's a self guided tour through the historic samurai residence filled with great history and exhibits! I definitely recommend especially if you're taking the tour bus route!

Rich in history, very well laid out, easy to know the route with well placed signs, good plaques explaining what different things are, and a very nice gift shop at the end. Thoroughly enjoyed it! Much better than the castle.
