The lean tuna was beautiful for my taste but they offer premium fatty tune for a price. Scallops and tempura was also lovely. For two it was around £30 a head with drinks which was great value.

We wanted salmon sashimi but the restaurant owner said that they don't have it because what was available on the market wasn't good enough for their restaurant. Talk about standards. The best fatty tuna I have yet to come across. The tuna melted quicker than butter in my mouth. Cash only. English menu available. Seats about 15 people so expect to wait if it's a weekend night. The wasabi is served on a grate plate as a root that has been grated down. Impressive display. Expensive. A plate of toro sashimi was ¥3300. The variety of sushi (8 pieces) was ¥2500 or a little more. But you pay for the darn good quality. Very nice chef. Just look at the photos to see the quality of fish, I was amazed.

Fresh wasabi, fine quality fish, and great service make this a must visit in Kyoto. The owners are a couple, so there's a mom and pop feel. Cash only so prepare to have some with you.

We were there quite early (5.30-6pm) so it was easy to get a table, However it is a small restaurant so I would imagine it could get busy with only a few tables and then bar seating. The service was good and the waitress spoke good English which was helpful. We appreciated the details in the menu about etiquette. The setting is very nice and it is very clean. We enjoyed our food, and would recommend. Please keep in mind it is cash only, and we did find the price to be at the higher end of dinners for 2 adults and 2 children we’ve had in Japan. Also worth mentioning is that smoking is allowed in this restaurant so luckily we were already finished eating when someone started smoking so we were able to leave.
