★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Absolutely love the place. Was definitely one of the best meal we have had in Japan. Not touristic and very authentic! A must if you want to experience something different (and very generous portions with that!). If you’re up for it, order the fugu saké!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Pretty sad sushi place compared to what I've seen here in Japan. The other reviews seriously overrated the place and clearly they don't know what they are talking about. This is average sushi for America.
Bought the 1200 yen basic set with 8 pieces. Not only was the fish mediocre tasting, they put gobs of wasabi to mask and it was hard to eat.
Also the shrimp and fish task looked filthy. You are much better off with grocery sushi than this.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Firstly don't be intimidated if the doors are closed and you know that the place is open, just swing the doors open. I imagine their food is quite precious that they don't want anything from the outside going in which can contaminate the food.
The moment you walk in you'll be welcomed very well. You can ask for an English menu if you wish which at the end is really just point and say the amount you want. The cool part of the menu though is at the opening page which has the etiquette to eating sushi and ways to enjoy it even more.
Don't be afraid to try small portions of each cause I can tell you it's worth it. Every type available is worth it. WORTH IT!!!
It might be located a little out of the way but I can assure you, just stop by and your love for sushi will just rise. This is literally godtier level sushi in my honest opinion. I hope you get to stop by.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ It seems like the place is located in the middle of nowhere and luckily there was one English sign with working hours. So double check the entrance with the photo on google maps and open the door. Best sushi ever wait for you there. The place is so authentic, it feels like you are a guest in their house. Once you order (from the English menu, ofc), the sushi will be hand made for you. The freshest, thickest, most tender fish is what we got. Also ordered miso soup and sake. Altogether for 2 ppl - 4100 yen. ?????

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ One of the best sushi I had on Japan (in my life in general)! ? We came back there 3 days in a row. Very fresh, tasty - you just can't stop eating it. The place itself is very nice, old-fashioned in a good way. The place in you want to hide when a typhoon is rolling through the Kyoto ?

Found this little place after exploring the shrines. At first I thought it was quite pricey for uni students on a budget. My friend and I both ordered a set each. She also ordered miso soup and I ordered an extra portion of scallop nigiri.
The sashimi slices got to be the thickest I've seen in my life. They were fresh and extremely filling. We were struggling to finish it all but we did because it was so delicious.
The chefs were friendly and gave us each a plate of fresh fruit for free.
It ended up being only ¥3,000 altogether. This is much more worth than going to the cheap ''¥100 per plate places' as it is fresher. You would probably end up saving more money going here.
If we could come back, we would, everyday.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Delicious sushi in a traditional setting. The quality of the fish is excellent and the pieces generously sized. We were welcomed in a very friendly way and seated at the counter, so we could watch the chef preparing our sushi. My favourite sushi was the uni (sea urchin) and the superior quality tuna. The price is fair and we plan to come back before leaving the city.
