玉川上水や神田上水は有名ですが、その他に青山上水、三田上水、亀有上水、千川上水と作り市民の飲み水を確保しました。
これが三田上水の名残です。

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ 江戸市街の拡大で増水した水の需要に応じるため、寛文4年(1664)に玉川上水の水を下北沢で分水したものです。用水路は断面がわかるように残されており、水路の位置を示すために地上には色違いのタイルが並べられています。
In order to meet the demand for increased water due to the expansion of Edo city, Tamagawa Josui water was divided in Shimokitazawa in 1664. The irrigation canal is left so that its cross section can be seen, and tiles of different colors are lined up on the ground to indicate the position of the canal.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ 三田上水は、江戸市街の拡大で増加した水の需要に応じるため寛文四年に玉川上水の水を下北沢で分水したもので、代田、代々木、渋谷、目黒を経て現在の白金台、高輪、三田、芝地区に配水されました。享保七年に本所(亀有)、青山、千川の各上水とともに廃止されましたが、流域の村々の農業用水でもあったことから翌々年から三田用水と呼ばれて一宿十三ヵ村の用水として使用されました。
水路が二本並んでいますが、向かって左側は三田用水、右側はここから分岐して今の八芳園方面に流れていた玉名川の跡です。ここから少し上流には三田用水に架かっていた今里橋の欄干を見ることもできます。
このあたりは起伏のある地形で、散歩するのも楽しいですね。
環状4号線の工事が始まるとおそらくなくなってしまうので、早めに見ることをお勧めします。

There are two waterways lined up, but the left side is Mita Aqueduct, and the right side is the trace of the Tamana River that diverged from here and flowed toward Happoen. A little upstream from here, you can also see the parapet of Imazato Bridge over Mita Aqueduct.
This area has undulating terrain, so it's fun to take a walk.
It is recommended to see it early as it will probably disappear once the construction of Ring Road 4 begins.
