this place is not so popular among tourists though it should be. This place has a different aspect other than religious one. Here you can see the graveyards of 47 ronins, who are symbols of loyalty & justice.

The temple and gravesite of the 47 Ronin Samurai and their lord. A beautiful and well kemp temple and gravesite that has plaques in Japanese and English that explain the story of their lives and their death. A two minute walk from the train station. I love how the country of Japan embraces and honors their history so very much. I highly recommend that visit this beautiful temple

Absolutely a must visit place. Nothing fancy about it but feel the history within. Graves of Ronnins tells about royal tradition. I was very lucky to witness the ceremony inside the mainhall. I guess its a regular worshipping ceremony at noon everyday but not sure. It took around half an hour but was amazing. Priests were so humble and polite to involve me in ceremony. Very different experience in deed. There are some souvenir shops outside. Temple is very near from station.

Even though I’m not a big admirer of revenge plots and I fail to see a heroic inclination in avenging someone who couldn’t hold his temper in check, there’s no doubt a great cultural significance of The Ako Incident and the actual place where that famous story unfolded. I strongly advice to read the story before coming, so all these gravestones have more meaning to you than just “47 ronin, yeah, I heard about it”. The place itself is a temple with a rather spacious patio permeated with incense, on your way to the graves you’ll see the legendary well where ronin cleaned Kira’s head. Tombstones are very well kept.

A piece of Japan history! For those that have seen the movie Ronin, all 47 former Samurai have their graves here. So worth a visit.

Nice peaceful temple to visit. The temple itself is quite beautiful however if you have already seen a few temples in Japan then it may not be a stand out location. That said, the story behind this temple (the 47 Ronin) and the gravestones next to the temple is the what makes it an interesting place to visit. The temple also have a small museum at cost which you can visit to see some more history. Lastly I recommend to read the of the story of the 47 Ronin first before visiting, so the visit here has some more significance.
