 When Masayuki Sanada built the castle, it was placed as a mirror stone of the main gate. Nobuyuki Sanada tried to take it out when Matsushiro was transferred, but it didn't seem to work.

The name is Sanada, but it is actually built by 축 石 仙 who ruled here after the Sanada family. It seems to be the biggest stone in Ueda Castle.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ 現存する石垣は、仙石忠政が造ったものですが、真田昌幸が上田城築城の際にこの大石を「真田石」と名付け、のちに真田信之が松代に移封を命じられた際に、父の形見として持っていこうとしたが、微動だにしなかったという伝承が伝わり、真田氏に寄せる上田市の人々の敬愛の情がうかがえます。
The existing stone wall was built by Tadamasa Sengoku, but when Masayuki Sanada named this large stone "Sanada stone" when he built Ueda Castle, and later when Nobuyuki Sanada was ordered to transfer it to Matsushiro, his father.
