引越し前から雲行きは怪しかった。まず、送られてきたダンボールの強度が弱い。卒業制作物かと見間違う脆さで、引越し業者の人間ですら運搬中に穴を開けてしまうものだった。
次に、対応が杜撰。引越しの2週間ほど前にダンボール10個の発送を依頼したが、2日前になっても送られてくるどころか連絡のひとつもなく、結局こちらから電話をして営業所に取りに行く羽目になった。多分忘れていたのだと思う。
引越し当日にも問題は多かった。まず、来るのが遅かった。10~12時に来ると連絡があり、来たのは11時40分。引越し中の作業員の電話の内容を聞く限り、うちは2番目で、朝イチではなかったようだ。繁忙期なのである程度は仕方ないが、それにしたって10時に間に合わせている身としては不安も募るばかりだし、ある程度の目度がついたぐらいで連絡の1本ぐらいしたらどうなのかと感じた。これまた作業員の電話で「次の物件の14時はカツカツかも」とこぼしていたから、うちに11時40分に来たのは、後から述べる作業時間のことも考えると明らかにミスであると言える。
いざ引越し作業が始まると、家財の上に勝手に物を置いたり立てかけたり触ったり蹴ったり。それは仕方ないにせよ、1番嫌だったのは清潔感のない男性がずっと素手で家具類を運んでいたこと。なまじもう1人の若い男性が引越し専用の軍手を着用していたこともあり、それがとにかく気になって仕方なかった。
引越し作業は3人で行っていたようだが、ひたすら外で待ちぼうけている人がいたり、作業を中断して電話の対応をしていたりと、どうにも効率が悪く感じた。作業に関する話をしている中で、作業員同士が雑談している様子も少し見えて、気分が悪かった。
一人暮らしの部屋の荷物なので、荷物の量もさほど多くはなかったはずだが、終了時刻は14時05分となった。2時間以上もかかり、不動産会社にも迷惑をかけることとなった。
