Lake Biwa Marriott Hotel - Moriyama

Enjoyed our stay overall. Onsen in the room was nice. Room was spacious with sofa by the window to enjoy the lake view. Lounge was too busy for comfort during covid, but staff was flexible enough to provide takeout box so we could bring food and drinks back to our room. Sports center is cool. Mini driving range was 550 yen per hour and can also rent clubs (extra 700 yen). Nearby Lake Biwa area is very relaxing. Bike rental was a bit pricey (4000+ yen for 5 hours).

Facility location was quite good. In front of hotel, there’s beach and I enjoy SUP with family. It is just a few minutes from the hotel. The hotel have a big spa and pool. You can relax there after playing at the beach.

We had THE ABSOLUTE BEST STAY at Lake Biwa. We have already started talking about planning another visit just so we can stay there again. Everyone was incredibly kind and courteous. We felt very welcomed and also very safe, given all of the COVID precautions. We were upgraded to a suite with an Onsen and it was just wonderful. We also had a beautiful lake view that was so peaceful. The room was very comfortable and they brought up an extra little bed for our 4 year old. The pool was fun for our kids, and the planetarium was a unique experience. We even did laundry mid-way through our vacation. The main thing that really stood out above the rest was the Chef. I would like to recognize the Chef and lounge Staff for such excellent service- they truly made our experience exceptional. We are Americans currently living in Japan and have struggled to eat out because of my food allergies. When we were in the lounge on the first night, the staff noticed I was struggling to find something to eat. The chef and staff took it upon themselves to then cook dinner for me nightly. I was in complete shock (and almost cried happy tears) at the thoughtfulness. I cannot tell you how much this was appreciated. I was actually able to eat a beautiful and delicious (and safe) meal every night. It was wonderful. We cannot recommend this hotel enough. We cannot wait to come back and enjoy this peaceful retreat nestled in the mountains, but also close enough to Kyoto to visit. Thank you so much to all of the Staff who made our stay so pleasant. We really truly appreciate it so very much!

Lake Biwa Marriott is in the perfect location. It is a days drive from our home in Tokyo and we stay there when we visit family further south or when visiting Kyoto. We could stay in Osaka, but prefer the country setting of Lake Biwa Marriott hotel - this will always draw us back. There are many food options especially when one factors in the nearby mall, Pieri. We enjoyed the buffet breakfast at the hotel, and during the day we were out and about in the local area. Since it was the rainy season and we wanted see other sights around the hotel, we did not use any of the hotel facilities(swiming pool, public baths, tennis courts, planetarium and footsal courts).

Perfect stay with kids, plenty of activities on site of the hotel (even if raining) and nearby if you can drive. Lunch on the 12th floor was good with lovely lake views, and from the room as well. Thanks also to the hotel team for warm and professional service overall.

I Love the room with a private hot spring bath in our hotel balcony… it’s 24 hours and it’s luxury to the next level because it overlooking Biwako lake!!! Ive booked it again on Christmas Eve since the new year was already full?

Location, location, location - the property is situated with beautiful views of Lake Biwa. From the outside the property does look a bit dated and old but the rooms have been renovated. The restaurant on the 12th floor has very good meals served fresh. Overall, it’s not to the standard of a typical Marriott property as far as curb appeal and comfort. It feels a bit sterile with not a lot of warmth.

Don’t get fooled by the outside looks of the Hotel, ones you arrive you will be positive surprised by a fully newly renovated Hotel, friendly staff and good food. Nice large Rooms new bathrooms with all the amenities and a private Onsen built in your Shower in some premium room, and others have it near the Window. All rooms nicely done to international standards. Staff is friendly and most speak English. Have sports facilities attached to the hotel, so plenty of things to do. Also have bike rental shop, swimming pool. Can only recommend
