西暦1853年の讃岐国名名称図絵巻の十、宇多津全体では当地は十王堂となっており、それ以降、建てられたと推測します。（十王堂は現在、浄泉寺に移っています。）
昭和20年末期には祭りがおこなわれており、マラソン競争などの余興も行われていた記録があります。地域の守り神として祀られています。
境内の注連縄柱は神石神社の前にあったという人もいますが、詳しいことは分かっていません。なお、隣には人気うどん店があります。
 "Utazu Town: Ara Shrine (Hamamachi District)"
Ten of the Sanuki country name map picture scrolls in 1853 AD, the entire area of Utazu is the Juoudou, and it is presumed that it was built after that. (The Juoudou is currently moving to Jyosenji Temple.)
There is a record that a festival was held at the end of 1945, and entertainment such as marathon competition was also held. It is enshrined as the guardian deity of the area.
Some people say that the Shimenawa pillar in the precincts was in front of the Kamiishi Shrine, but the details are unknown. There is a popular udon shop next door.
