★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We went there by chance after visiting the Kinkakuji. It was full of surprises. The beautiful Japanese style room with tatami floor and wooden tables. Small garden with lovely trees. Food presentation was absolutely stunning. Family owned business with the three Keigo family members. We didn't see the father at the beginning. The mother and the son welcomed us with detailed introduction to food choices. We are vegetarian and pestacarian. Therefore it can be a bit difficult to find a suitable place to eat. But they hosted us with friendly and tasty food. When we left, the father came to greet us together with the mother and the son. It was a very intimate experience with a local Japanese family running restaurant. Definitely a good choice for tasting Kyoto in a private alley.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ This was a fantastic experience! The restaurant is small and family owned. The family were very nice to us and talked with us in English. The lunch sets are roughly 2,500 yen but definitely worth it. The food is very high quality and the portion sizes are large. Definitely the place to go if you’re looking for an authentic Japanese experience after visiting local temples and shrines.

Owners are very warm and welcoming. You can freely speak English with owners. It’s definitely one of best experiences I had during this trip.
When we just about to leave, the owners gave us paper bird and said “it will bring happiness to ur life” Great food great owner great experience :)

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ This is the best traditional Japanese cuisine I’ve had so far! My favorite dish is their Cheese Maple Bread. The owner couple are very sweet and friendly. I highly recommend this place and would come back again in the future.
