★ ★ ★ ★ ★ had the oyakodon and it was fantastic ? the staff were also very friendly. together with the view and sounds of arashiyama, it's a nice place to dine at. the only downside is the slightly higher price but that's to be expected~ thank you for the lovely food and service!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Just perfect. Tatami mat eating space on the second floor with a fantastic view over the river. Great variety of super delicious food. You will find all the classics here such as Oyakodon and Tempura noodles but can also get a tofu set which I highly recommend. My party looked down at the tofu menu but when I got my meal all eyes and chopsticks were on my tofu. If you have to wait there's seating space outside. Just put your name on the list and grab a beer for the wait.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Nice spot away from the crowds. Calming view of the trees above the riverbank, from the bottom level of the restaurant. Food is a good portion at an affordable price. I recommend the Gyudon (beef rice bowl) for 800yen. They sell Kyoto beer which matches well with the meal.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Wow. Unexpectedly this was the best meal we had during our whole stay in Japan. Food was delicious, portions generous, flavors on point, quality exceptional. Topped off with a gorgeous view of the river, this restaurant is a true gem!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Unbelievably tasty food in incredible surroundings. Well priced with a meal costing approximately ¥700 per person. I had the tempura udon which was delicately battered, beautifully cooked with a crisp outside and soft broth infused inner and my wife had the beef curry udon which was wonderfully fruity with mushrooms and generous amount of tender beef. I very highly recommend trying this place and is a great lunch stop after exploring the bamboo forest which is in walking distance.

We got the:
Curry udon
Chicken soup with udon
Marinated fish
Everything was quite tasty! Downside was that the udon noodles were too soft, but everything else was good!
Extremely affordable in Japanese standards. You can get a udon or a chicken-egg don for like 600yen.
Highly recommend for people walking around this area!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ A little off the beaten track. It’s not a place u chance upon if u are just walking and hunting for food when hungry. The places near the bridge are Super crowded and if u venture all the way in, down a slight ramp onto the riverside stone path, u will see this place. Very home style, no frills food. Upstairs is tatami seating and a direct view of the river. No crowds.
Food portions are large and the taste is ok. Just like what your grandma may cook at home.
