★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Where the locals eat. You'll probably have to order with hand gestures and Google Translate, but this is definitely quintessential Japanese sushi. First question they will probably ask is --- what is your budget we said 2000 but you can probably get away with 1500. The next question is most likely answered with, "You take care of it," and let them choose the sushi. Great if you want a down-to-earth experience with great sushi.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ A hidden treasure for sushi lovers with authentic atmosphere. Small place with locals, don't expect a fancy place, just original Japanese sushi made by the owner and affordable prices. Nothing to do with busy, overcrowded tourist restaurants. Suggested to us by a restaurant owner!

They are served in a small restaurant with a very friendly local atmosphere by a nice chef.
Quality equals the price, just prepare Google translate for better communication :)

The place didn't look like much, but the owner was friendly and used a translation app on his phone to translate the essence of what he said to us. The pieces he served us were all delicious. The fish was tasty, fresh and he had some specialties I hadn't tried before as well. I highly recommend this place to anyone visiting Kyoto.
