Taro and his family are so warm and welcoming and learning in the environment of a Japanese home was a unique experience. The class was so insightful and unlike other cooking classes where you are just taught how to cook, you get to learn all about the cooking equipment, ingredients and the culture of eating. As the class was relaxed we were also able to talk to Taro about Japan and the culture in general which was so informative. The food was simple enough to cook at home yet delicious and a true reflection of Japanese home cooking and we feel very inspired and confident to cook Japanese food at home. If you also want to try Kobe beef this is a great way to experience it and know that you are cooking and eating true authentic Kobe beef. Afterwards Taro was kind enough to email us more information about the cooking class and the food we cooked which was greatly appreciated. Highly, highly recommended if you are in Kyoto it is one of the best and unique experiences we had in Japan.

Taro was very informative, he explained to us the difference between Kobe beef and wagu beef, different types of miso, dashi as the base of Japanese cooking. We learned a lot. My younger daughter aged 11 enjoyed the most, she was able to cut using a knife, made tamago. If we visit Kyoto again, we would take the class again, hopefully Taro will teach us something new. Taro's family was also very nice and kind, we had a wonderful afternoon.

Taro is a great teacher who took the time to explain the various dishes as well as answer our questions about food, Japanese culture and much more. I would happily recommend if you have time in Kyoto.

Taro and his family were very welcoming and informative. We learnt a lot about Japanese cooking techniques and the way of life. We helped to prepare miso soup, three side dishes and Kobe beef. I actually planned my trip to Kyoto around this cooking class.

The course was a perfect balance between practical cooking and observation which enabled us to absorb all the information. We all learnt a lot about Japanese food and culture, and got to ask questions about the culture and history that we were all curious about. He is authentic, knowledgeable, thoughtful, and speaks great English. Last but not least, the food is delicious and Kobe beef was top grade. We are looking forward to trying the recipes when back in the UK. Highly recommend!

The location of the class in Taro's family's house supports the super authentic vibe and style. Last but not least - the food was delicious ? Highly recommended to attend!!
